A Few Words
The paleontological secrets of the Geopark area, imprinted through terrestrial and marine fossils, reveal a prehistory that stretches back millions of years. Fossils are the remains of plant or animal organisms that, having managed to be “buried” after their death by some chance event, were preserved to this day. A horn from an extinct deer, a rib from an extinct sea cow, or fossilized corals and bivalves reveal aspects of an unknown, mysterious, and distant past.
The history of the creation of the Geopark area is a unique and continuous journey through time, full of geological changes and natural phenomena that shaped it into what we know today. From the rocks and the fossils, we can reconstruct its formation and evolution.
